Just read in Travel Weekly and Carnival’s own launch announcement that Carnival Rewards went live on September 1, replacing VIFP. The part that caught my eye is casino play now feeding into the broader loyalty setup, with points and status stars tied in part to casino points left at the end of a sailing. That’s a pretty big change from the old days when cruise loyalty and casino treatment lived in neighboring zip codes but not the same house. Could be interesting, could be muddy, probably both. I’m curious what the Carnival regulars here are seeing in real life so far. Not promises, not brochure talk — actual account updates, host chatter, or anything different in how offers look after a September sailing? Feels like one of those changes that sounds simple in a press release and gets complicated once the ship leaves the pier.

What I’m watching first is timing and definitions. Carnival’s language says casino points can convert into Rewards points and status stars based on casino points remaining at the end of the sailing, which is not quite the same thing as “all casino play = instant loyalty credit.” That wording matters. I’d love to hear from anyone who finished a September cruise and can say how long it took for points/stars to post, and whether onboard hosts could actually explain the formula or were still reading from a script.

I’m really curious how this lands for the low-to-mid casino crowd, not just the big players. On Carnival, a lot of us do a few slot sessions, maybe a tournament, hang at the casino bar, and call it a night. If those leftover casino points now spill into the broader loyalty side, that could make the casual casino experience feel a little more connected to the rest of the cruise.
