Anybody else looking at Carnival Rewards and the casino piece?

I was reading Cruise Industry News and Carnival’s own news page, and one item that caught my eye is Carnival Rewards, which launched on September 1. What jumped out to me for our crowd is that casino play is part of it too, with stars tied to earned casino points and points tied to casino points left at the end of a sailing. Now, I’m not saying that means better offers for anybody, because those things are always up to the line. But it does make me wonder how folks here think this will feel in real life compared with the old setup. Clearer? More confusing? Better for occasional players, or mainly for the folks already putting in serious casino time? Gene would say the fine print tells the real story. Curious whether anyone here has actually sailed under the new program yet and noticed any difference onboard or afterward.

I haven’t sailed under it yet, but the part I’m watching is the split between stars and points. On paper that reads like two ledgers: stars = status tracking off casino points earned points = currency tied to whatever casino points are left at end of sailing If that’s really how it works, it might be clearer for spreadsheet people and more confusing for everybody else. What I want to see in real life is whether onboard visibility is any better. Can you actually see both balances easily in the app or kiosk, or is this another “ask the host and maybe get a shrug” situation? That’ll tell me a lot.

What I’d be watching first is the expiration/reset language, not just the earning side. Two-ledger programs can look simple until one balance is redeemable, the other is tier-only, and they don’t age the same way. That’s where people get surprised. Carnival’s summary made it sound cleaner than most launch announcements do, but I’d want to know: are points visible in real time, when do stars post, and what exactly happens at the end of the sailing if you’ve earned casino points but used some benefits onboard? If anyone has a post-Sept 1 cruise, screenshots from the kiosk/app would tell us more than the promo copy.

I haven’t been on the new setup yet, but my first question is whether table folks get a cleaner read than we used to. On Carnival, Denise can usually tell where she stands on slots quicker than I ever could bouncing between three-card and the poker room when they’ve got one. That old “we’ll see after the trip” feeling gets old fast. If this new program makes table play easier to track during the cruise, that alone would be a step up for me. Anybody back from a September sailing notice whether the casino desk could explain it without reading from a cue card?
