Carnival Rewards switch is getting close - anybody changing their play?

I was reading Cruise Industry News this week and it got my attention that Carnival’s new Carnival Rewards setup is still on track to take effect in September 2026, with milestone recognition moving to days sailed instead of just counting cruises. They also mentioned the Sail & Sign cards are getting a new design along with it. What I keep wondering is whether this changes how some folks here think about booking length, especially those of us who like a longer sea-day run with plenty of casino time. Not saying it means better offers or anything like that, because those things are always up to the cruise line, but it does seem like longer cruises may feel a little more rewarding from the loyalty side. Gene always said the casino and the loyalty desk are two different animals. Curious if anybody here is adjusting plans, or just treating this as a nice extra and nothing more?

I’m mostly treating it as a side bonus, not a reason to change my play. The part that could change my booking pattern is the days-sailed piece, not the casino piece. On my spreadsheet, a 7-night usually gives me way better casino time per travel day than a 3- or 4-night anyway, so if loyalty recognition also leans toward longer sailings, that just lines up with what I already prefer. But I wouldn’t stretch a booking just for that. Too many variables, and casino offers are still their own animal. What I am curious about is whether anyone who does a lot of short hops out of Florida is rethinking that mix now.

I’m not changing my play at all, but I could see myself leaning a little more toward 6-8 night sailings when the pricing works. Not for offers, just because those trips already feel more fun to me: more sea days, more time in the casino bar, and less of that rushed weekend-cruise vibe. The short Florida hops still have their place though, especially if I just want a quick solo reset. I’m more curious whether the new setup will change how people split their budget across one longer trip versus two short ones. Anybody here actually reworking their calendar for that?

Gene had that right. I learned a long time ago not to marry the casino calendar to the loyalty calendar, because they drift in and out like two drunks at last call. The days-sailed change might make the longer runs feel tidier on paper, but for me the real divider is still itinerary. A 7-night with three good sea days gives me a whole different casino rhythm than a 4-night where you barely learn the crew’s names before debark. I’m not changing play, but I may get pickier about those port-heavy longer sailings. Anybody else value sea days over raw length?
